Yale New Haven Hospital is exploring a new Guest Registration System to help account for all visitors and ensure safety and security.
The pilot of the new system, which starts this month, will be implemented on the York Street Campus at the North Pavilion/Smilow Cancer Hospital entrance. All visitors and guests entering there will undergo a health screening and be directed to the reception desk for guest registration if appropriate.
While all of Yale New Haven Health System continues to restrict general visitation during the COVID-19 pandemic, there are limited exceptions to the restriction policy, including for neonatal ICU, pediatric and obstetric units and for extenuating circumstances.
During the pilot registration program, YNHH guests and people permitted to visit will be asked for a valid, government-issued identification, such as a driver’s license, state ID or passport for scanning into the system. Guests will also be photographed with a desktop camera. Approved guests will receive a sticker and guest badge, which they will be expected to keep visible throughout their visit.
YNHH’s Guest Registration System pilot is scheduled to run for six weeks.
