These employees received PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond to meet patients’ and families’ needs.
A team from the Saint Raphael Campus Emergency Department was recognized for providing compassionate, patient-centered care to a married couple with COVID-19. When the husband was admitted with breathing difficulties, his wife, who was on home hospice, was transported to the SRC with him.

Maria Herrera, RN, ED charge nurse, collaborated with the Medical Intensive Care Unit team to ensure the couple could be assigned to a joint room so they could be together during their hospital stay.
