How to vote in the 2020 general election

The 2020 general election is Nov. 3. Please check with your local registrar of voters on voting locations in your town. If you are not registered to vote, you can complete a voter registration application online with the Connecticut Secretary of the State’s office, sots.ct.gov. If you choose to mail the application, it must be postmarked and mailed to the registrar of voters by Oct. 27. Alternatively, you may register in person with your town registrar of voters by Oct. 27.

All registered voters will receive an application for an absentee ballot in the mail. You can also download an absentee ballot application from sots.ct.gov. If you are unable to vote in person, complete the absentee ballot application and check the box noting why you are requesting an absentee ballot (COVID-19 has been added as a reason). Once your application is approved, you will receive your absentee ballot. You must return the completed ballot to your town clerk before the close of the polls on election day.

Employees caring for patients who wish to vote but will be hospitalized on Nov. 3 may direct their patients to complete the emergency application for an absentee ballot online, at sots.ct.gov. This application must be completed and submitted within six days of the election.
