Richard D'Aquila has been named president of Yale New Haven Health System, in addition to serving as president of Yale New Haven Hospital.

In his new role, he will lead efforts to develop and align clinical services to create a "YNHHS care signature" that is unique and consistent across the health system. These efforts include expanding service lines within YNHHS delivery networks and in the health system's clinical network partners; growing and integrating YNHHS ambulatory services; coordinating high reliability, quality and regulatory readiness initiatives; and aligning nursing and advanced practitioners across the organization.

D'Aquila joined Yale New Haven Hospital in 2006 as executive vice president and chief operating officer and was named president in 2012. During his tenure at YNHH, D'Aquila has led efforts to build a destination medical center in New Haven and experienced a period of unprecedented growth and clinical service development. He led the team which successfully integrated the Hospital of Saint Raphael and YNHH in 2012, has overseen development and growth of the highly successful Y Access patient transfer service and enhanced clinical partnerships with other hospitals in the state, including Lawrence + Memorial and Milford hospitals and Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
