Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital (YNHCH) and Greenwich Hospital hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 14 to open the YNHCH Pediatric Specialty Center and Greenwich Hospital Pediatric Outpatient Center.
Approximately 75 people gathered for the grand opening of the two centers, located next to each another on the second floor of 500 West Putnam Ave.
The YNHCH Pediatric Specialty Center specialties and programs include: allergy/immunology, cardiology, craniofacial surgery, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, hepatology, infusion center, nephrology, neurology, neurosurgery, oncology, orthopedics, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, phlebotomy, respiratory, rheumatology, surgery and urology. The team includes medical and surgical pediatric specialists, advanced practice providers and registered nurses, along with Social Work, Psychology, Nutrition Services and Child Life professionals. Other services at the West Putnam Avenue location are outpatient endoscopy surgery and primary care, along with physical medicine services (physical, occupational and speech therapies). The hospital plans to add cardiology and blood draw services in the near future.

Next door, Greenwich Hospital’s Pediatric Outpatient Center handles 4,500 visits a year from children who are under- or uninsured. When necessary, these patients can be easily referred to the YNHCH Pediatric Specialty Center.
In addition to staffing the Pediatric Specialty Center, YNHCH provides pediatric emergency services and pediatric inpatient coverage 24/7 at Greenwich Hospital, with 44 pediatric specialists there.
