Staff, volunteers and special guests gathered Nov. 11 for Yale New Haven Hospital's annual Founders’ Day celebration at the Saint Raphael Campus. Founders’ Day honors the legacy of caring of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, who founded the former Hospital of Saint Raphael in 1907.
Special guests Sister Maureen Shaughnessy, the Sisters of Charity’s newly elected general superior, and the Rev. Msgr. John Georgia, pastor at Resurrection Church in Wallingford, participated in an interfaith service, “Gratitude,” in the SRC chapel. YNHHS CEO Marna Borgstrom, President Richard D’Aquila, Executive Vice President Chris O’Connor and leaders and employees from many departments across the hospital and health system also participated.
As part of the day’s celebrations, two panels on the SRC’s pictorial timeline were unveiled and blessed. The timeline is in “Memory Lane,” the hallway leading to the shuttle stop. One existing panel has been updated; the other is new, highlighting SRC activities since 2017 and showcasing the future of the campus through renderings of the planned neurosciences center.
