Care Associate Week honors an unstoppable team
The theme for this year’s Care Associate Week, Nov. 16 - 20, captured the spirit of healthcare professionals who have played vital roles in Yale New Haven Hospital’s response to the COVID pandemic. That theme, “Together We’re Unstoppable,” was on display during the annual Care Associate Week celebration, held Nov. 16 via Zoom. Care Associate Week honors YNHH’s ambulatory care assistants, ambulatory care associates, clinical technicians, emergency department technical associates, ED technicians, medical assistants, mental health workers, milieu counselors, patient care associates, radiology care assistants, technical associates and urology technicians. Kwame Davenport, YNHHS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategic consultant, gave a keynote talk at the celebration, which also recognized care associates who have advanced on the clinical ladder.
The Care Associate celebration honored (l-r): Chinwe Ezeonyekwelu, PCA, WP 8; Alexandra Kerwin, PCA, McGivney Surgery Center PACU; and Jacquelyn Peterson, technical associate, Shoreline Medical Center ED, who each received the Frances Grindell Scholarship, awarded annually to care associates pursuing nursing degrees.
Sabrina Cuttino, ambulatory care associate, Pediatric Specialty Center, Long Wharf (left), and Jennifer Kuczynski, PCA, EP 7-5, each received the Care Associate Circle of Care Award for dedication to patients, commitment to peers and service to the community.
