The deadline for abstract submissions for the 2015 Joseph A. Zaccagnino Patient Safety and Clinical Quality Conference is Monday, March 23. A submission form and guidelines will be on the YNHHS Performance Management website: On the system intranet page, click "departments" in the top navigation bar, then "Performance Management" on the list. The Yale New Haven Hospital Auxiliary will present a free community health lecture, "Novel Approaches to Breast Imaging: 3D Mammography and Screening Ultrasound" at 6 pm Thursday, March 19, Cronin Auditorium, Saint Raphael Campus. YNHH will celebrate National Certified Nurses Day Monday, March 19 with information fairs at both campuses. At the Saint Raphael Campus, the fair will be 6:30-9:30 am in the Selina Lewis Building, lower level. Sue Fitzsimons, RN, PhD, senior vice president, Patient Services, will speak at 7 am. At the York Street Campus, the fair will be 6-11:30 am in the East Pavilion Cafeteria special events area; Fitzsimons will speak at 10 am. At the fairs, certified clinical nurses will provide information on certification in oncology, emergency, critical care, medical/surgical, pediatric, perioperative and other nursing specialties. YNHH reimburses nurses who successfully pass an approved certification exam or a re-certification exam.
To celebrate National Nutrition Month in March, YNHH's registered dietitians encourage employees to enroll in one of the Nutrition Clinic's 28-day diet challenges: sugar detox, focus on fiber, sodium busters or go lean for heart health. Yale New Haven Children's Hospital has opened a new Pediatric Sleep Center at its Bridgeport Hospital Campus. The new facility, along with the pediatric sleep laboratory at YNHCH's York Street Campus, provides nighttime and daytime sleep studies as part of its overall mission to diagnose and treat insomnia, excessive daytime sleepiness, restless leg syndrome, sleep disturbance, narcolepsy, sleep apnea and other respiratory and non-respiratory sleep problems. YNHH is a sponsor of AIDS Walk New Haven, Sunday, April 12. Registration is at 1 pm; the walk begins at 2:30 pm on the New Haven Green. Funds raised are donated to seven member agencies of the New Haven Mayor's Task Force on AIDS, which advocates for education and prevention strategies and comprehensive health and social services for people living with and affected by HIV.
