Yale New Haven Hospital recently announced the following medical staff leadership appointments to enhance patient safety, physician communication and clinical effectiveness:
Alan Friedman, MD, is medical director, Medical Affairs. His duties include assessing physician performance, conduct and onboarding. He will also help develop and implement new physician safety and quality evaluation processes and support the hospital's high reliability organization work. Dr. Friedman has been a YNHH medical staff member for 21 years and is a professor of pediatrics (cardiology) at Yale School of Medicine.
Sandip Mukherjee, MD, is medical director, Physician Liaison Services. In this role he will develop and implement strategies to improve relationships and connections between the hospital and community physicians. Dr. Mukherjee is medical director of the YNHH Aortic Institute and an associate clinical professor of cardiology at Yale School of Medicine.
Ian Schwartz, MD, has been named executive director, Performance Management. In this role, he will lead care management efforts at YNHH and is the physician lead for clinical redesign for Yale New Haven Health System. Ohm Deshpande, MD, has been appointed director of Care Management; and Sam Hahn, MD, is medical director for Acute Care Management.
