Consider bringing these items along to make your hike more pleasurable.
Water to replenish fluids. Always bring a water bottle or a hydration hike pack (a backpack that holds a reservoir of water and long straw used to sip water as you hike).
Trail mix or other snacks for a quick energy boost during short hikes. For longer hikes, pack a picnic lunch.
A paper map of the trail or use your smart phone to take a picture if the map is posted at the entrance. Some hikers use a hiking app, such as AllTrails.
Sunscreen, bug spray and a few bandages for blisters. Avoid stuffing your backpack. Even a lightweight bag can seem heavy as the hike progresses. Know your limitations and don’t tackle a trail that’s too difficult.
