The cheerful, child-friendly decor of the Pediatric Ambulatory Surgery Center at Greenwich Hospital instills comfort, which helps to ease the experience for young patients and their families.
The new Pediatric Ambulatory Surgery Center at Greenwich Hospital offers children and families convenient access to the most advanced pediatric surgical expertise in the area from one of the nation’s top children’s hospitals, Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital (YNHCH). Leading pediatric specialists in a wide range of surgical specialties together with specially trained pediatric anesthesiologists provide compassionate, family-centered care in a beautiful new facility tailored to the unique needs of children.
With a design and environment that instill comfort, the surgery center features nurses, doctors, surgeons, and anesthesiologists who specialize in pediatric care, and a child life specialist who is clinically trained to ease the experience for pediatric patients and their families. Pediatric surgeons from YNHCH treat a range of conditions in gastroenterology, general surgery, otolaryngology, urology, and pediatric and adolescent gynecology. The surgery center has a colorful, child-friendly waiting area enhanced by a whimsical toy closet, as well as exam rooms with child-friendly decor.
Located on the second floor of the main hospital at 5 Perryridge Road, the new surgery center represents the latest expansion of pediatric services at Greenwich Hospital, through its collaboration with YNHCH, one of the country’s leading children’s hospitals. The partnership widens access to top pediatric specialists, subspecialists and hospitalists locally.
In addition to the Pediatric Ambulatory Surgery Center, Greenwich Hospital’s pediatric services include 24/7 pediatric emergency services with board-certified YNHCH pediatric emergency physicians, a YNHCH Pediatric Specialty Center in Greenwich that provides multidisciplinary care by board-certified Yale School of Medicine pediatric specialists, a pediatric inpatient unit that offers around-the-clock care by YNHCH hospitalists, and a Level IIIB Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
The generosity of several community members enabled the hospital to build the facility.
“No other hospital in the region provides this advanced level of synchronized care for children,” said Karen Santucci, MD, Greenwich Hospital’s chief medical officer and a board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physician.
