Innovative partnership would boost community health
Vulnerable children and adults would have greater access to medical and behavioral health services, as well as support services, under a proposed innovative partnership between Greenwich Hospital and Family Centers.
The initiative – which brings together two organizations with similar missions – would expand facilities and treatment options for underserved medical patients in the region.
Greenwich Hospital has requested state approval to transition its Outpatient Center and Pediatric Outpatient Center to Family Centers, a federally qualified health center, without any gap in services. Family Centers would assume day-to-day oversight of the clinic in a newly renovated space at 75 Holly Hill Lane, Greenwich, which is accessible via public transportation.
The new location will open in November and increases capacity by 20 percent, enabling the hospital to meet the needs of an increasing number of patients. Once completed, the new space will feature 15 exam rooms (10 for adults and five for children). Innovative partnership would boost community health Under this proposed model, Greenwich Hospital would continue to support the clinic with physicians from its Internal Medicine Residency Program under the direction of Ellika Mardh, MD, medical director, Greenwich Hospital Outpatient Center, and senior associate director, Internal Medicine Residency Program.
If the state approves the partnership, Family Centers would assume operational responsibility in 2024, giving clinic patients access to a network of behavioral health, dental and social services to complement their medical care. Family Centers provides counseling, vocational support, education, English classes, and a range of health programs.
Greenwich Hospital will continue to offer services at its current clinic locations at 500 W. Putnam Ave. and 5 Perryridge Road, both in Greenwich, until the new site opens.
