Ride Closer to Free

We’re Getting Closer to Free – Thanks to These Employees

Every year, hundreds of Yale New Haven employees participate in the Closer to Free (CTF) ride to support Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center. Meet some of these inspiring employees; and consider joining them for the Sept. 7 CTF event as a rider, volunteer or supporter. All YNHHS employee riders pay a registration fee of just $50 for adults and $25 for students/youth (a 50 percent discount). Use the code EMPLOYEE24 and provide your employee ID number at registration. Register and learn more at rideclosertofree.org.

Halley Robinson, LCSW, clinical social worker
Thoracic Oncology Program, Smilow Cancer Hospital

“This will be the fourth year that the Lung Cancer Support Group and Thoracic Oncology Program will run the Closer to Free North Branford rest stop. To me, there is no better energy and excitement than on ride day. It’s an opportunity for our patients and providers, past and present, to come together outside of clinic space and show our support for the work that we do and the patients and families we serve. It’s a day that exemplifies the relationships formed and the solidarity and support that fuel those navigating their own cancer diagnosis. To see all the riders come through and to hear and share stories is the most vivid reminder of why we do what we do.”
