After an extensive search, Yale New Haven Health System has named Pamela M. Sutton-Wallace, MPH, chief operating officer (COO), effective July 11. In this role, she will work closely with the presidents of YNHHS’ delivery networks and with Yale School of Medicine to advance high-quality care throughout the region. In addition, she will partner with YNHHS CEO and President Christopher O’Connor in setting strategic direction for the health system and all its entities.
Sutton-Wallace has been with New York Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH) since 2019. She was most recently group senior vice president and COO of the Weill Cornell Division, providing strategic direction and operational oversight for four campuses.
Before joining NYPH, she spent over five years at University of Virginia (UVA) Health. There she served as the CEO of the UVA Medical Center before becoming interim leader of the UVA Health Enterprise, which included the UVA School of Medicine, UVA Medical Center and the Health System Library.
Sutton-Wallace started her academic health system career as an administrative fellow at Duke University Health System in North Carolina. During her 17 years at Duke, she gained increasing responsibilities before eventually serving as the senior vice president of Hospital Operations at Duke University Hospital.
Sutton-Wallace received her Master in Public Health from Yale School of Medicine and her bachelor’s degree from Washington University.
