Yale New Haven encourages high school students to do just that, by providing a variety of programs that highlight the many opportunities here. On May 4, Yale New Haven Hospital held a celebration for 22 New Haven high school students who completed two career-awareness programs sponsored by the health system’s Institute for Excellence, in collaboration with YNHH’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Council. Thirteen students participated in the School to Career, On Campus Internship Program, working in Heart and Vascular Center stepdown units and outpatient clinics, Patient Transport and CT Scan. Nine of the students participated in YNHH’s Virtual Career Awareness Program. They learned about the health system’s in-demand careers; completed career assessments and began to identify, research and showcase two careers of their choosing. Yale New Haven Health leaders and staff attended the recognition event, along with representatives from New Haven Promise.
