New Orchard Street Garage construction under way
Work has begun on a new, 784-space garage on Orchard Street for Yale New Haven Hospital’s Saint Raphael Campus.
The garage is being built next to the existing Orchard Street garage on what was previously a parking lot. Patients, visitors and employees can still park in the existing Orchard Street garage but will have to enter and exit the garage from Chapel Street once temporary provisions are in place.
Signs are posted at the affected areas; and patients, visitors and employees have been notified about the work.
The new Orchard Street garage is part of the larger SRC Neuroscience Center and Bed Tower project. That project also calls for replacing the existing Orchard Street garage, once the new garage is complete.
Work began earlier this spring in the area between the back of the Selina Lewis and Verdi buildings and the front of the McGivney Advanced Surgery Center to prepare for two new patient care buildings. Those are scheduled to open to patients in 2027.
