With flu season soon to be upon us, YNHHS is gearing up for its annual mandatory flu vaccination program, designed to protect patients, families and employees.
Beginning in early October, YNHHS will provide flu vaccinations to employees and other groups at numerous locations throughout the health system. Seasonal flu activity generally begins in October and can last through May, making fall vaccinations effective in fighting the virus through spring.
As a condition of continued employment, employees and physicians as well as all hospital volunteers and affiliates must receive a flu vaccination or have an approved medical or religious exemption. This requirement also applies to employees who work remotely. Onsite vaccinations will begin the week of Oct. 9. The deadline to receive the flu vaccination is Friday, Dec. 1.
Employees must schedule their flu shot by signing into Infor, then Employee Self-Service (ESS), or through the Employee Health section on the Infor landing page (click “Get Your Flu Vaccine” in the menu on the left).
Volunteers, students, travelers, vendors and non-employed licensed independent practitioners must also receive the flu vaccine. They may schedule an appointment through ynhhs.org/GetVaccinated, or by visiting https://fluvaccination.ynhh.org/.
In addition to onsite locations, employees may get vaccinated at their primary care physician’s office or a participating retail pharmacy. Those enrolled in the YNHHS Medical Plan will have their copay automatically waived if they get vaccinated after Sept. 1 at a retail pharmacy in the CVS Caremark vaccination network, such as CVS, Walgreens or Stop & Shop. Those who get vaccinated at a CVS MinuteClinic must present their Cigna card to have their copay waived.
Additional details about vaccination options, including how to submit documentation of vaccination by a primary care provider or participating pharmacy, are also available on the ESS dashboard. Information about applying for a medical or religious exemption will be available on ESS as well. Employees must complete and submit all documentation for the appropriate exemption by Oct. 14.
In addition to vaccination, all employees, including those working remotely, must complete the online flu module on the Infor Learning Management System (LMS) by Oct. 14.
