These employees received PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond to meet patients’ and families’ needs.
The Pediatric Emergency Department was honored for compassionate, patient-centered care and going above and beyond. Staff created a “home” for two patients who experienced extreme agitation during an emergency transition in placement by the state Department of Children and Families. The siblings did not require inpatient hospitalization but did not have a safe discharge plan. They remained in the Pediatric ED for several weeks until a transition plan could be developed. During that time, the ED team worked to create a safe, comfortable and fun space for the patients. Staff donated clothing; facilitated arts and crafts, games and trips to the playground; and picked up extra shifts to maintain continuity of care so the siblings could see familiar faces every day.
All employees, physicians and volunteers are eligible for PEACE recognition. Send nominations to: [email protected].
