On Oct. 12, the existing Orchard Street Garage is scheduled to be closed for demolition; the Cronin’s Crossing sky bridge also will close. Employees who park in this garage should park in the new Orchard Street Garage, scheduled to open the day before. The sky bridge to the new garage will not be open; employees will need to access the hospital at street level. Patients and visitors who normally park in the Orchard Street Garage will be directed to park in the George Street Garage.

Employees without a college degree who want to continue their education or improve their skills are invited to apply for YNHH’s 2024 School At Work (SAW) class. The eight-month SAW program is free to employees. It covers life-management skills; mastering communication; patient satisfaction and safety; grammar; reading and writing; applying math in the workplace; medical terminology; a quick review of Microsoft Windows and Word; and a resume and interview workshop. Starting Oct. 1, new QC logs will be used for Urine hCG, Urine Dipstick, pH paper, Hemoccult and Gastroccult tests. To receive the new logs for each campus, email [email protected] or [email protected]. There is also a new process for sending QC logs to the Point of Care Testing Team at each campus. At the end of each month, scan completed logs and email them to [email protected] or [email protected]. The Point of Care Teams will no longer accept fax submissions at either campus.
YNHH is the lead organization that administers the New Haven WIC Program, which helps pregnant women and families with infants and children up to age 5. The program provides nutrition counseling and breastfeeding support and helps families obtain nutrient-rich foods. Applicants for the federally funded WIC Program (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) are evaluated based on financial need and nutritional risk.
