The sound of hammers and saws was replaced by applause as Yale New Haven Hospital unveiled newly renovated and new units recently. To accommodate a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Obstetrical Services construction project in the West Pavilion, the York Street Campus Adult Surgery Unit moved from WP 8 to a renovated EP 6-5. Among those at the Jan. 15 opening were (l-r): Bethany Mulone, RN, service line educator; Laura Cronan, RN, assistant patient service manager; and Nancy Hoey, RN, patient service manager. Staff and physicians with the Bariatric/General Surgery Unit on Main 6 at the Saint Raphael Campus joined hospital leaders at the Jan. 5 ribbon-cutting on their brand new unit. The unit includes 15 private rooms with special features such as railings on all walls and clear pathways to help patients safely move around after surgery, and, in the unit hallway, benches along the walls so patients can rest as they walk during their recovery.
