Yale New Haven Hospital has launched a Resident - Nurse Collaboration Award to recognize nurses and physicians-in-training who demonstrate teamwork and exemplify the collaborative spirit critical to patient care.
Resident physicians proposed the award, which was developed by a team of nurses and physicians who will review nominations and choose one resident or fellow and one nurse awardee each month. Nurses may nominate a resident or fellow, and vice versa.
In addition to collaboration, the award recognizes nurses, residents and fellows who create a supportive and cooperative work environment and respect different healthcare team members.
An online nomination form for the award is available under the "tools" tab in Epic. Nominators must complete a short statement about how the nominee meets award criteria. Nominations are due by the first of each month; awards will be presented mid-month by residents' program directors and nurses' patient service managers. Nominations for the first awards, to be presented April 15, are due by April 1.
