YNHH is hosting a "Keep the Power On" utility clinic, 9 am - 1 pm Thursday, May 12, East Pavilion Cafeteria special events area. The clinic, open to YNHH patients and staff, is designed to help families who may have trouble paying their utility bills avoid having utilities turned off. Representatives at the clinic will educate and enroll eligible individuals in special utility programs and provide budget counseling. Managers are encouraged to permit staff to attend. The national Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation has recognized Yale New Haven Health System hospitals for their commitment to equitable, inclusive care for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) patients and their families. Bridgeport, Greenwich and Yale New Haven hospitals are among 496 healthcare facilities nationwide named "Leaders in LGBT Healthcare Equality" in the Healthcare Equality Index 2016, an annual survey conducted by the HRC Foundation. Leaders have non-discrimination policies for LGBT patients and employees, a guarantee of equal visitation for same-sex partners and parents, and LGBT health education for key staff members.
The Yale New Haven Hospital 2015 annual report is now available online. With the theme On a Mission, the report includes stories of patients whose medical conditions were improved by the skill and compassion of YNHH staff.
