YNHH + PAL = FUN!
Megan Elsenboss (right), Pediatric Dental Clinic, had campers guess how much sugar is in certain snacks, then helped them brush up on their dental hygiene skills.
For two days in July, Yale New Haven Hospital employees turned a section of Wilbur Cross High School into an elaborate learning lab for nearly 250 kids at the New Haven Police Activity League (PAL) summer camp. More than 150 employees provided education and plenty of hands-on demos, including CPR, laparoscopic surgery, trauma care, physical therapy and healthy cooking. Campers learned about safety, drug and alcohol prevention and nutrition, and older children got tips from YNHH leaders on preparing for careers. YNHH has participated in PAL Camp for the past six years.
