Yale New Haven Hospital nurses are leading a variety of research projects, under the leadership of nurse researcher Janet Parkosewich, RN, DNSc, aimed at improving the safety and quality of care and patient outcomes.
A number of these studies have won national awards, including a study that led to a new policy supporting families who want to be present during CPR on a loved one; research showing that some post-surgery patients can safely have ice chips or water within one hour after breathing tube removal; and research that led to a practice change to help identify children at risk for physical abuse.
Results of these and other studies, along with detailed information on how to conduct research, are on the YNHH nursing intranet site.
