Great Catch winners help YNHH become a high reliability organization
Alison Morrione, Anna Zitnay
Congratulations to these Great Catch winners for modeling HRO safety behaviors and taking action to improve patient safety.
Inpatient
Allison Morrione, autopsy technician, was recognized for attention to detail when a deceased patient who had been identified for organ donation was mistakenly released to the funeral home. Realizing the error, Morrione redirected the morgue technician to the funeral home to recover donated tissues within a tight timeframe. As a result, two different patients benefitted from the donations.
Outpatient
Anna Zitnay, clinic operations leader, Transplant Procedures Room, was recognized for attention to detail, mentoring with 200% accountability and handing off effectively using SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment and Recommendation). Upon hearing a threatening voicemail from a patient scheduled for an appointment that day, Zitnay contacted Protective Services, who worked with her to develop a plan for the patient’s arrival. Preparations revealed issues with building security which were resolved.
