YNHHS is rolling out its annual mandatory flu vaccination program in early October to protect patients and employees. The vaccination deadline for all employees is Dec. 15.
Employees and physicians must receive a flu vaccination or have an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of continued employment. In the past three years, nearly 99 percent of employees were vaccinated.
Beginning the week of Oct. 5, YNHHS will provide flu vaccinations to employees at locations throughout the health system, including on many department floors and units. Seasonal flu activity generally begins in October and can last through May, making fall vaccinations effective in fighting the virus through spring.
To help maintain social distancing this year, employees must schedule their flu shot in advance. More information will be available soon on how to schedule your on-site flu vaccination.
In addition to the on-site locations, employees may be vaccinated at their primary care physician’s office or a participating CVS Caremark network pharmacy. Details about vaccination options, including how to submit documentation of vaccination by a PCP or participating pharmacy, are available on the Employee Self Service (ESS) dashboard, accessible through Infor (click “Action Dashboard” on the Infor landing page).
Information about applying for a medical or religious exemption is also available on ESS. Employees must request the appropriate exemption by Sept. 30. Employees who previously had a non-pregnancy-related medical exemption do not need to submit another request. Medical exemption requests will be approved or denied by Oct. 31. Religious exemption requests will be approved or denied by Nov. 16. Exemption request forms are also available on ESS.
Look for additional details on scheduling your flu vaccinations in upcoming employee newsletters and on the employee intranet.
