In 2013, YNHHS introduced the Know Your Numbers employee wellness program to help employees heighten their health awareness and earn credit toward the cost of their medical benefits. This year's program has exciting new elements and continues to offer a reward of up to $500 credit toward the cost of participating employees' 2016 YNHHS medical premium. Employees enrolled in a YNHHS medical plan and those eligible to enroll for benefits may participate.
"Employees are our most valuable resource so their health and well-being are important," said Kevin Myatt, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, YNHHS. "Last year, more than 10,000 employees took advantage of the opportunity to learn or confirm valuable health information and earn credit toward their 2015 medical premium by participating in the Know Your Numbers Plus program. We hope even more employees benefit from this year's program."
New this year is the confidential, online RedBrick Health portal, which is a key part of Know Your Numbers Plus and will be a great resource for staff year-round. Employees must register on the portal at livingwell.RedBrickHealth.com, to participate in Know Your Numbers Plus. The portal will be used to schedule the required health screening, take an online health assessment, participate in certain personal choice activities and track earned rewards.
Know Your Numbers Plus has two required steps — 1) health screening and 2) health assessment — that earn the initial $300, plus a personal choice activities component that can earn up to an additional $200 for a maximum $500 credit.
The health screening provides key health measurements — blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides and blood glucose; height, weight and body mass index (BMI); and waist and hip circumference (a pre-diabetes indicator). The most convenient way for most employees to get their numbers is to schedule an onsite health screening at one of 17 YNHHS locations. Review onsite screening locations, dates and times, and/or make appointment at the RedBrick Health portal or at our appointment scheduling web page. Onsite health screenings are available between May 19 and Aug. 24. If the onsite venues or schedules are not convenient, visit the RedBrick portal to learn about other screening options.
Use the RedBrick portal to complete the confidential Compass™ health assessment any time during the Know Your Numbers Plus incentive period (May 4 - Aug. 28).
In addition to learning about their health status, employees will be rewarded by Know Your Numbers Plus for participating in activities to stay healthy or make improvements. Employees may choose from four categories of personal choice activities to earn up to an additional $200 credit.
Options include participating in livingwellCARES face-to-face coaching sessions with a registered nurse or wellness coordinator/health coach; completing RedBrick Journeys online education courses to inspire healthy actions; or tracking physical activity (including syncing a personal fitness device with the RedBrick Track portal).
Employees can also complete eligible preventive screenings/health exams, choosing from an expanded list this year. All personal choice activities must be completed and self-reported on the RedBrick portal by Aug. 28.
More details about the personal choice activities, eligible preventive screenings/ exams and general details about Know Your Number Plus are available in the Know Your Numbers Plus booklet being mailed to eligible employees' homes in May, on the employee intranet, Employee Self Service (ESS) and the RedBrick website.
Participation in Know Your Numbers Plus is voluntary and employees' privacy is protected. YNHHS works with third-party vendors to conduct these programs and only receives an overall summary of the health screening and assessment results — no individual employee results will be shared with YNHHS.
"The goal of Know Your Numbers Plus and all livingwell employee wellness initiatives is to provide resources and support to improve or maintain good health," said Myatt. "By working together, we can improve our personal health and also help manage healthcare costs for ourselves and YNHHS."
