Liver walks Sept. 20, 27

Employees are invited to join or donate to YNHH's teams in two walks that raise money for the Connecticut chapter of the American Liver Foundation. The first Liver Life Walk is Sunday Sept. 20, Rentschler Field, East Hartford. To register or support the YNHH team, visit liverfoundation.org/walkhartford. The second walk is Sunday Sept. 27 at Harbor Point, Stamford. To register or support the YNHH team, visit liverfoundation.org/walkfairfieldcounty. Registration for both walks is at 8 am; the walks begin at 10 am.

Labyrinth walk Sept. 28

YNHH's Complementary Service Department will host a labyrinth walk, 11 am - 1:30 pm Monday, Sept. 28, Seminar Room, 55 Park St. Free and open to the public, the labyrinth walk is a meditative exercise that takes about five to 10 minutes and allows for contemplation and reflection. The YNHH Auxiliary is sponsoring the event. For more information call 203-200-6129.

Information tables on financial freedom Sept. 29, Oct. 1

The Employee and Family Resources (EFR) program will have information tables on getting finances back on track and achieving financial freedom, 11 am - 2 pm Tuesday, Sept. 29, Saint Raphael Campus cafeteria, and Thursday, Oct. 1, York Street Campus cafeteria. Financial stress can affect relationships, job performance and personal well-being. The tables will include information on EFR services and the United Way's Smart About Money budget coaching service.

Patient Experience Conference abstracts due Sept. 30

YNHHS employees are invited to the 2015 Patient Experience Conference, 8 am - 3:30 pm Thursday, Oct. 29, Webster Bank Arena, Bridgeport. Employees may submit abstracts based on their patient experience projects for the year. For submission criteria and forms, visit the intranet or contact your department manager. The deadline for abstracts is Sept. 30. Accepted posters will be displayed at the conference, and the awards committee will select a winning team from each delivery network. This year's conference features two nationally known speakers: Regina Holliday, an artist and patient rights arts advocate, founder of the Walking Gallery and the Medical Advocacy Mural Project; and Ronald Wyatt, MD, medical director in the Division of Healthcare Improvement at The Joint Commission.

Enroll in A Positive Difference by Sept. 30 and you could win

Employees who enroll in the A Positive Difference employee giving program by Sept. 30 will be automatically entered into a random drawing for one of three iPads. Employees can sign up and manage their donations through Employee Self Service (ESS). Check out the latest technology at ITS expo Oct. 2

YNHHS' Information Technology Services department will hold "The Fast and The Curious" expo to showcase the latest products, applications and enhancements, 7 am - 4:30 pm Friday, Oct. 2, East Pavilion Cafeteria special events area, York Street Campus. View demos on new and enhanced applications and workflows, get tips on becoming more efficient with charting and learn about the MyChart patient portal and ITS projects in the works. ITS staff and Epic trainers will also be available. The expo is being held in advance of National Health IT Week, Oct. 5 - 9. Watch for a Saint Raphael Campus expo Nov. 6.

Blood drive Oct. 6

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at the York Street Campus, 7 am - 4:45 pm Tuesday, Oct. 6, East Pavilion Cafeteria special events area. The last 15 minutes of each hour will be kept open for walk-in donors. Social Security workshops Oct. 12 and 13

Employees are invited to workshops, Understanding Social Security, noon - 1 pm Monday, Oct. 12, room CH 201, York Street Campus, or noon - 1 pm, Tuesday, Oct. 13, Selina Lewis multipurpose room, Saint Raphael Campus. A presenter from MetLife Securities will explain Social Security basics, including age requirements for eligibility, how social security benefits are taxed and the impact of additional earned income on benefits. Save the date: Joint Commission accreditation conference Nov. 3

Yale New Haven Health System's Performance Management department will hold a conference on The Joint Commission accreditation process, 8:30 am - 3 pm Tuesday, Nov. 3, Harkness Auditorium, New Haven. The conference will be videocast to Bridgeport and Greenwich hospitals and the Cronin Auditorium, Saint Raphael Campus. The conference is appropriate for staff involved in the accreditation process, medical staff officers, nurse administrators, performance management specialists, risk managers and department managers in clinical and support services. The education session will focus on changes in the continuous accreditation process, new and revised hospital standards and national patient safety goals for hospitals. Key Survey now approved survey tool for YNHHS

Managers and staff conducting surveys related to Yale New Haven Health System or its delivery networks are required to use Key Survey, a secure, YNHHS-approved tool. The tool uses "https," an encrypted, secure web connection, and the ynhh.org domain to identify surveys as coming from YNHHS. Use of Key Survey will protect respondents from email phishing and ensure the privacy of responses, which will be handled under YNHHS policies. Key Survey will cost $300 per department per year and include unlimited surveys and responses. Each department will use a secure login provided upon registration, and surveys will run four to five weeks. For more information, contact [email protected].

Policy search enhanced

The MCN/Ellucid Policy Manager document search has been updated and enhanced. Users can click a box for a particular delivery network and will receive results for that delivery network, along with policies and procedures and other documents for Yale New Haven Health System. To access the policy manager, visit ynhh.ellucid.com/. For YNHH employees, the hospital's Infection Control Manual is now available in the YNHH Policy Manager.
