YNHH offers free income tax preparation on both campuses

YNHH and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program are again offering free federal and state income tax preparation services to YNHH employees whose total household income was under $54,000 in 2016. At the York Street Campus, VITA tax preparers will see employees in the consultation room in the Fitness Center, 48 York St., Tuesdays and Fridays, Feb 3 - April 14. At the Saint Raphael Campus, VITA tax preparers will see employees in the Human Resources office, Selina Lewis building, third floor, Wednesdays, Feb. 1 - April 12. Employees must make an appointment, which takes 30 - 45 minutes, to see a tax preparer. YSC employees should call the Benefits Office, 203-688-8339; SRC employees should call HR Reception, 203-789-3324. Employees must bring all W-2 and 1099 forms for the 2016 tax year; a copy of 2015's tax return; a copy of a photo ID (driver's license, passport or YNHH employee ID badge); original Social Security cards or the individual taxpayer identification number of each person being claimed; and bank account information for direct deposit of any IRS refund. More information about the VITA program – including other sites for VITA tax preparation in Greater New Haven – is available on the Employee Self Service dashboard.

YNHH again recognized for alternative transportation options

For the fifth consecutive year, the Best Workplaces for Commuters (BWC) program has recognized Yale New Haven Hospital for being among the top organizations nationwide offering employees alternative transportation options. The organization recently awarded YNHH its gold medal in the 2016 BWC Race to Excellence. BWC recognizes employers that meet or exceed the national standard of excellence in commuter benefits created by the National Center for Transit Research and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. YNHH's Transportation Demand Management program offers alternatives to single-occupancy vehicle use, with shuttle services, public transportation subsidies, car- and van-pooling and other alternatives. The program helps address parking challenges; demonstrates environmental excellence by reducing gasoline demand, greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution; and exhibits corporate citizenship.
