May is National Stroke Awareness Month
The YNHH Stroke Center will host information tables in honor of National Stroke Awareness Month: 10 am - 3 pm Tuesday, May 23, Saint Raphael Campus cafeteria; and 10 am - 3 pm Thursday, May 25, York Street Campus East Pavilion cafeteria. Staff will provide information about types of stroke, risk factors, warning signs, treatments and stroke prevention.
Financial Fair June 7 - 9
YNHH will hold Financial Fairs in June in four locations. Employees can learn more about financial programs and services available to them at work and talk with representatives from Fidelity Investments, Mercer Voluntary Benefits, Bank of America, Key Bank, Healthcare Financial Federal Credit Union and other financial institutions, along with the Employee and Family Resources Program, HOME Program and YNHHS livingwellCARES. YNHHS Benefits staff also will be at each fair to answer questions about the annual Cash Account Pension Plan statement and Fidelity Investments Retirement Update statement employees will receive at home in the coming weeks. Fair dates and times are:

- 11 am - noon Wednesday, June 7, Medical Center South

YNHH physicians on "Top Docs" List
Connecticut Magazine’s 2017 Top Doctors listing includes 191 Yale New Haven Hospital-affiliated physicians and more than 300 from across Yale New Haven Health System. Ranking is based on a regional peer-review survey, in which licensed physicians vote online for those doctors who, in their judgment, are the best in their field and related fields. The 2017 “Top Doctors” issue, which features more than 1,000 physicians representing over 30 specialties, is available online at

Deadline to apply for Auxiliary project grants is July 1
Hospital departments at both campuses are invited to apply for up to $5,000 from the YNHH Auxiliary’s Project Grants Program for fiscal year 2017-18. Requests must be submitted by Wednesday, July 1 for projects that directly benefit patients and their families and would not be covered by department funding. Submissions must be approved by the department’s vice president. Cover sheets and documentation should be sent to
[email protected]; the subject line should include department name and request. Supporting documentation should be scanned and attached to the application form. YNHH earns two employer of choice awards
Two separate entities recently recognized Yale New Haven Hospital as an employer of choice. Great Place to Work®, a division of Fortune, named YNHH one of the Best Workplaces in Health Care. YNHH was ranked number 14 on the list of winning healthcare workplaces that outperformed their peers in a number of areas, including training, compensation, clear expectations from management and emotional health. The top-ranked workplaces were also recognized as positive, supportive places, with an average of 93 percent of employees describing colleagues as friendly and welcoming. Becker’s Hospital Review also recognized YNHH recently by naming the hospital to its 2017 list of 100 Great Hospitals in America.
