The Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit was recently awarded a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence, sponsored by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). The award recognizes nursing units that use evidence-based practice to achieve excellent patient outcomes. Silver-level recipients also demonstrate continuous learning and effective systems for optimal patient care. The Neuro ICU is one of just three nursing units in Connecticut that currently hold this distinction. Another YNHH unit, SLA 2, a post-surgical and step down unit at the Saint Raphael Campus, earned a bronze-level Beacon Award in 2015. The designation is good for three years.
Vizient, Inc. the country's largest, member-owned healthcare company, recently presented Yale New Haven Health System with two Excellence Awards and the 2016 President's Award of Honor for achievements in Supply Chain savings and sustainability.
The Supply Chain Management Excellence Award recognizes significant improvement in supply chain management processes and excellence in sourcing and resource management processes. Vizient specifically recognized YNHHS' Total Joint initiative, a collaboration between Supply Chain, Finance, Center for Musculoskeletal Care leadership and physicians. YNHH also received an Excellence Award for its efforts leading the way to a more sustainable future. In addition, YNHHS received Vizient's President's Award, given to member healthcare systems that have received an excellence award in more than one category in a year.
