The Neurosciences Intensive Care Unit was recently awarded a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence, sponsored by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). The award recognizes nursing units that use evidence-based practice to achieve excellent patient outcomes. Silver-level recipients also demonstrate continuous learning and effective systems for optimal patient care. The Neuro ICU is one of just three nursing units in Connecticut that currently hold this distinction. Another YNHH unit, SLA 2, a post-surgical and step down unit at the Saint Raphael Campus, earned a bronze-level Beacon Award in 2015. The designation is good for three years.
