Nearly 200 former patients and their family members attended the annual alumni reunion sponsored by the Allison Family Neonatal ICU at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital's Bridgeport Hospital campus May 21. The event gave NICU staff an opportunity to catch up with parents and with former patients – some of whom weighed barely 1 pound at birth. Among the attendees were Yale New Haven Health System Chief Information Security Officer Glynn Stanton, his wife, Pani, son, James, and daughter, Juliet. Now 11, Juliet weighed less than 2 pounds, 4 ounces at birth. The family was joined by director of Neonatology Robert Herzlinger, MD, and neonatologist Christine Butler, MD, who heads the NICU follow-up program in Bridgeport. The NICU is undergoing a $7 million renovation to provide more patient and family privacy and improve other aspects of family comfort.
