PEACE recognition announced
These employees received PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond to meet patients’ and families’ needs.
Stephanie Fappiano; Latoya Smith
Stephanie Fappiano, administrative associate, Murphy Elementary School-based Health Center, was honored for going above and beyond on behalf of all the fourth-grade students. The nutrition educator position was cut from the school’s budget, so Fappiano contacted YNHH’s Food and Nutrition Department about providing nutrition education. Because of her request, YNHH dietetic interns conducted an educational program at the school during National Nutrition Month in March.
Latoya Smith, Patient Transport, was honored for actions of genuine care and compassion. Upon learning that a frightened and anxious patient at the Saint Raphael Campus had no family support, Smith continued to check on the patient between her assignments. After completing her shift, Smith returned to the hospital to sit with the patient and provide a comforting presence. The patient expressed gratitude for Smith’s thoughtful actions.
All employees, physicians and volunteers are eligible for the monthly PEACE recognition. Send nominations to: [email protected].
