Be healthy and save money - Know Your Numbers PLUS 2017 launches this month
The Know Your Numbers PLUS wellness rewards program launches Monday, May 15. Now in its fifth year, the program gives Yale New Haven Health System employees the opportunity to earn up to $500 credit toward the cost of their 2018 YNHHS medical premium – and be healthier at the same time. Participation in Know Your Numbers PLUS is also a 2017 Performance Incentive Plan (PIP) goal.
“Many who have participated in Know Your Numbers PLUS have commended the program for helping build awareness about their own health and health risks, and for rewarding healthy behaviors,” said Kevin Myatt, senior vice president and chief human resources officer. “Participating in the program is a win-win. Employees can improve their health and save money, plus, YNHHS has a healthier workforce that provides safe, extraordinary patient care.”
Benefits-eligible employees will soon receive a brochure at home with details about this year’s program, including how to use the confidential RedBrick Health wellness portal to participate.
2017 program overview
A person’s “numbers” – cholesterol levels, blood pressure and blood glucose – tell a lot about his or her health and can identify a health risk requiring attention. That’s why a completing basic health screening is the cornerstone of the program and earns $350 in credit. Screenings can be done at a YNHHS on-site location, through an employee’s personal physician or at a participating CVS MinuteClinic (the only external lab that can be used for this year’s KYN+ program).
In addition to the $350 screening credit, employees can earn up to $150 by completing personal choice activities in one or more categories, such as:
- Select preventive exams (annual physical or ob/gyn exam, and up to two dental cleanings)
- Health/wellness coaching by YNHHS’ livingwellCARES
- Tracking physical activity
- Online health assessment
All details about the KYN+ program are in the brochure, including information about the personal choice options, credit that can be earned and eligibility periods. Some activities can occur between Sept. 1, 2016 and Aug. 31, 2017. All KYN+ elements must be completed by Aug. 31, 2017.
Employees who are not benefits-eligible or do not choose to enroll in YNHHS benefits are encouraged to complete an on-site health screening. Along with providing valuable health information, participation counts towards PIP goals.
In addition to the brochure, Know Your Numbers PLUS information will be available: on the Employee Self Service dashboard, the YNHHS HR intranet, the employee intranet, RedBrick Health portal and HRConnect benefits service center(
