Nursing senior leadership changes announced

With the recent retirement of Sue Fitzsimons, RN, PhD, Yale New Haven Hospital chief nursing officer, Yale New Haven System will conduct a national search for an inaugural System CNO who will have responsibility for nursing practice across the health system. Ena Williams, RN, vice president and associate chief nursing officer, is serving as YNHH’s interim CNO during this transition period. She will be supported by a strong Nursing Leadership Council, and has assumed oversight of all off-shift leadership functions.

In recent months, we have taken steps to integrate a number of our service lines and clinical departments to create common care delivery standards system-wide. The following nursing leaders have been promoted to reflect their increased system wide responsibilities:

  • Marianne Hatfield, RN, vice president Patient Services, Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital and Women’s Services
  • Francine LoRusso, RN, vice president Patient Services, Heart and Vascular and Transplantation
  • Catherine Lyons, RN, vice president Patient Services, Smilow Cancer Hospital
  • Mark Sevilla, RN, vice president Patient Services, Behavioral Health and Emergency Medicine

Additionally, Susan Maxwell, RN, vice president, Perioperative Services, assumed responsibility for inpatient surgical services to enhance the coordination and delivery of surgical care across the care continuum.
