Employee Engagement Survey 2024 kicks off soon

Don’t miss the opportunity to share your feedback

Yale New Haven Health wants to hear from you!

Employee Engagement 2024

Employee feedback makes a difference, which is why YNHHS invites all employees to participate in the 2024 Employee Engagement Survey Monday, Sept. 9 - Sunday, Sept. 22. The survey will cover several areas, including communication, safety, employee well-being, accountability and action-taking.

Responses will help leaders assess progress from last year’s survey and the effectiveness of action plans implemented at the department, delivery network and system levels.

“We strongly encourage all employees to take a few minutes to complete this year’s survey and provide honest, constructive feedback,” said Melissa Turner, YNHHS chief human resources officer. “Leaders use your feedback to help make decisions, put programs, practices and initiatives in place that support employees and the important work you do, and create a more rewarding environment.”

YNHHS has taken steps to address many concerns shared in past surveys (See sidebar: “Safety issues take center stage with employee feedback”). Additionally, employees have expressed a need for improved communications between teams about clinical care. In response, Quality and Safety and the Office of Strategy Management launched a reimagined Performance Improvement Model. The model is designed to enhance communication around process improvement by creating a unified toolbox and common language across the system. During the first phase, YNHHS leaders were trained to lead improvement work for their departments and units. The new workflows, currently rolling out to clinical and non-clinical teams throughout the health system, support improved clinical and operational efficiencies and multi-disciplinary team communication.

“While there are many complex and substantial challenges facing health care and Yale New Haven Health, we are committed to listening and responding to your concerns where we can,” Turner said.

YNHHS’ independent survey vendor, Glint, Inc., will administer the survey, compile employees’ confidential responses and provide results in aggregate.

On Sept. 9, every employee with a health system email address will receive an email from Glint with a unique survey link, which connects employee responses to the correct organization. Employees may also take the survey through a generic link on the employee intranet by entering a private password.

For the first time, the survey link will also be available on YNHHS Mobile Heartbeat devices, a convenient option for employees who may not be able to access a computer at work.

Employees who prefer to complete the survey at home will be able to access it on any computer, tablet or smartphone with internet access.

High participation strengthens the quality of results. Survey participation is a Performance Incentive Plan (PIP) measure in selected YNHHS organizations, so completing the survey will help your organization reach its PIP goal.
