YNHHS rolls out healthcare hub on wheels

Yale New Haven Health and Yale Medicine have introduced the first mobile retail pharmacy and clinic in the state to bring health care to people where they live.

The project, called InMOTION, serves communities throughout Connecticut, the first state in the country to legalize mobile retail pharmacy services. It features a mobile health unit in which patients can be seen by a clinician, have blood drawn if needed and receive their prescriptions all in one visit. InMOTION helps meet patients’ medication needs through financial navigation, grants, manufacturer support and a partnership with the Dispensary of Hope, a national organization that collects and distributes pharmaceuticals for low-income, chronically ill patients. Patients can also connect with social services resources that help with transportation, housing and employment.

“Health inequities are a longtime barrier to access that we are deeply committed to helping remove throughout the communities we serve with innovative initiatives like this,” said Margaret McGovern, MD, PhD, Yale Medicine CEO and YNHHS executive vice president and chief physician executive.
