Leonor Villanueva, RN, Medical Unit, recently earned PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond. A patient discharged the day prior was sent home without a bottle of his medication. The patient’s wife was very concerned about her husband not having his medication and made it clear that she had no transportation and no means of retrieving the medication from the hospital. Villanueva volunteered to deliver the medication to the patient’s home in Scarsdale, New York, after her shift.
The Pediatric Short Stay unit (SP 7-4) team recently earned PEACE (Patient Experience Award for Caring and Excellence) recognition for going above and beyond to create an environment of healing, support and empathy. The patient was admitted to the unit for treatment the week before his high school graduation, and he was upset that his parents would not be able to celebrate his achievements. The SP 7-4 team coordinated with several other departments to make special arrangements so the patient could safely attend his graduation, after which he returned to the unit to complete his treatment.
All employees, physicians and volunteers are eligible for PEACE. Send nominations to: [email protected].
