Quality is on display at Greenwich Hospital

Quality and safety posters
To celebrate the hard work of participants in its Annual Spike Lipschutz, MD, Quality & Safety Celebration, Greenwich Hospital displayed smaller versions of quality and safety posters in the windows leading to the hospital garden on the first floor.

On Aug. 1, Greenwich Hospital hosted the 3rd Annual Spike Lipschutz, MD, Quality & Safety Celebration & BBQ in the garden. Staff members were encouraged to submit posters about a service line or department performance improvement project. Poster submissions were divided into three categories: improving quality and patient safety through education; interdisciplinary quality improvement; and patient and staff safety.

Winners for each category were:

  • Improving quality and patient safety through education: Cost and Cause of Redraws: An analysis of specimen quality, patient care, and hospital resources, by Caitlyn Fitzgerald and Sarai Mark
  • Interdisciplinary quality improvement: Reducing Frequency of Hypoglycemia Events During Admission, by the Diabetes Core Team
  • Patient and staff safety: Medical Oncology: Patient Mobilization, by Karen Nicolas RN; Nicole Rossi, DPT; Julie Ann Wahnish, DPT; Susan Burke, RN; Jamie Sheehan, DPT; Anthony McBride, CNA

“It was a fun project to breathe new life into our display cases and highlight the amazing initiatives while recognizing the work our staff does every day,” said Debi D’Alba, Greenwich Hospital director of Patient Experience, who spearheaded the poster display initiative.
