Renee Richardson, lead instrument technician, Central Sterile Supply, was recognized for practicing a questioning attitude and attention to detail. When she noticed a vendor washing an ultrasound probe in a sink in the decontamination area, Richardson stopped the line and requested confirmation of the correct procedure. After she escalated her concerns to her leadership, a review determined best practices for processing the probes.
Maria Bernardo, RN, MICU (Verdi 3 North and West), was recognized for attention to detail, practicing a questioning attitude and 200% accountability. The day after a planned telemetry central monitor upgrade in the MICU, Bernardo noticed that urgent alarms were no longer displaying on all ICU bedside monitors – which ensures the alarms can be seen from any patient room. She escalated her concerns to her manager, Digital and Technology Solutions and Clinical Engineering, which worked directly with the vendor to rectify the issue.
