40 years, nearly 300,000 patients … and too many steps to count

On Oct. 29, Patient Transport celebrated its longest-serving York Street Campus employee: Michael Smith, who marked his 40th year with Yale New Haven Hospital, all in the same department. Department and hospital leaders and fellow transporters attended the event, sharing stories, laughs and praise for Smith, who has touched the lives of an estimated 300,000 patients during his career. Leonard Guercia, Patient Transport director, (right) presented Smith with a plaque.
