Yale New Haven Health’s Heart and Vascular Center offers a new type of cardiac ablation to treat atrial fibrillation (AFib), the most common type of abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia).
Pulsed field ablation is an advanced treatment for AFib that uses short electrical pulses to ablate cells that are triggering the AFib, without damaging surrounding structures. Studies suggest this new, highly precise technique safely and effectively treats AFib with faster procedure times than traditional methods and with low complication rates.
Pulsed field ablation is offered at four Heart and Vascular Center locations: Bridgeport and Greenwich hospitals and both campuses of Yale New Haven Hospital.
