Great Catch winners

Congratulations to these Great Catch winners for modeling HRO safety behaviors and taking action to improve patient safety.

Yale New Haven Hospital

Jaspreet Loyal, MD

Jaspreet Loyal, MD, medical director, Inpatient Pediatrics, YNHH, and associate professor of Pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine, was recognized for practicing a questioning attitude, attention to detail and listening to her “internal smoke detector.” While attending in the well-baby nursery, she noted that an infant’s skin appeared bluish, which had been attributed to bruising during delivery. She requested additional assessment and testing, which led to the infant’s transfer to the Neonatal ICU for cardiac interventions.

Stephanie Colella, PA

Stephanie Colella, PA, manager of APP Emergency Services, was recognized for attention to detail and escalating concerns while caring for a patient in the Chest Pain Center. The patient had complained about back pain and been admitted for a stress test. Colella questioned the EKG and brought her concerns to the physician, who agreed that a consultation with Cardiology was indicated. Upon further assessment, the patient was diagnosed with arrhythmia and the stress testing was cancelled.
