YNHH one of first Pulmonary Embolism Comprehensive Care Centers of Excellence worldwide

The Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT) Consortium recently announced that Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) was designated as one of the first of three Pulmonary Embolism Comprehensive Care Centers of Excellence in the world.

As such, the hospital is recognized as a leader in treating and managing pulmonary embolism (PE), offering cutting-edge therapies, multidisciplinary care teams, and innovative approaches to improving patient outcomes.

YNHH was among only 12 sites out of over 300 selected for the initial review process, said Akhil Khosla, MD, director of YNHH’s Pulmonary Embolism Response Team (PERT), and assistant professor of Internal Medicine, section of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Yale School of Medicine (YSM).

“This designation reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional care to patients facing the challenges of pulmonary embolism, ensuring they receive the best possible outcomes.” said Jeffrey Pollak, MD, YNHH PERT co-director and Robert I. White, Jr. Professor of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, YSM.

Accredited sites undergo a comprehensive review to assess their capabilities across critical areas, including a multidisciplinary PE response team, advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, adherence to evidence-based protocols, and a commitment to ongoing education and research.
