Bridgeport Hospital’s Milford Campus unveils state-of-the-art post-surgical rooms

Bridgeport Hospital’s Milford Campus recently unveiled its new state-of-the-art post-surgical orthopedic care unit. The opening of 3 East marked a milestone in the commitment Yale New Haven Health and Bridgeport Hospital made to Milford Hospital when it acquired it nearly five years ago.

“We made a commitment to continue providing care to the community, to invest in its infrastructure, to offer new services and to expand access to specialty care in the region,” said Anne Diamond, DBA, JD, Bridgeport Hospital president.

The rooms are equipped with the latest technology and designed with patient and family comfort in mind. Each room features a tablet that allows patients to control lighting, temperature, window blinds and entertainment options. They can also easily communicate with their care team. Patients can be monitored remotely and will have the ability in the future to consult with providers virtually.

“Every aspect of this unit was meticulously thought out to truly enhance the patient experience,” said Diamond.

Employees already have ample training to serve patients in the rooms, and YNHHS will hire more orthopedic surgeons with different specialties to expand services in the community.

“This is a dream come true for all of us, especially for Milford,” said Milford Mayor Tony Giannattasio.
